Portuaria Corral inaugurates new shipping conveyor belt, first milestone of the terminal's modernization project
Portuaria Corral and its modernization and maintenance project will be extended until 2021, and the new conveyor belt is one of the advances.

In order to provide a better service to its forestry clients and to maintain a safe operation, Portuaria Corral inaugurated a new shipping conveyor belt as part of its maintenance and modernization plan.
Planning for the improvements began in June of last year, with the installation of the belt being the first milestone in a series of structural works that will be carried out until mid-2021.
"We are happy to inaugurate this new shipping conveyor belt as it is the beginning of a series of improvements we have planned for the terminal. This shows the concern we have in Portuaria Corral for the safety of our workers and to provide an excellent service, according to the growing export demand", explained Diego Sprenger, general manager of the terminal.
The growth in exports referred to by the executive is related to the sustained increase in the number of vessels calling at the terminal year after year, along with the volumes transferred. Only between 2018 and 2019 there was a 13.5% growth in metric tons transferred, added to the 22 vessels attended the previous year, a historical record for the port of Los Ríos.
According to INE figures, during August of this year, the port of Corral was the main exit point for exports from the Los Ríos region, corresponding to 27.9% of the region's total exports. This coincides with the good performance of the port so far in 2020, where 18 vessels and more than 1 million tons shipped have been handled.
