Portuaria Corral renews its fleet with hybrid tugboat

"We are progressing according to plan with this new hybrid tug. The fact that we have opted for a local shipowner has allowed us to follow the progress of the vessel step by step, which will allow us to continue improving our efficiency and service to our customers," commented Portuaria Corral's general manager, Diego Sprenger.

The construction of the new hybrid tug Don Víctor for Portuaria Corral reached 45% completion, according to the company.

The fabrication of the ship is being carried out at the Ascon shipyard, located in the Los Lagos Region, a facility that received a visit from managers of the maritime terminal and part of the board of directors of Grupo Corral S.A. to see the progress of the fabrication process on site.

"During the tour, we witnessed a key milestone: the hull closure, which contemplates the deck, superstructure and bridge. We also witnessed the assembly maneuver of the wheelhouse," detailed Portuaria Corral.

Regarding the investment, the company explained that "it will allow us to operate more efficiently and reduce emissions, thanks to its hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system".

"We are very motivated and expectant with each of our projects, all with a high focus on sustainability and the development of a cleaner and more efficient operation," the company remarked.

The pusher type vessel is a development that is part of the company's 2030 sustainability plan and is projected to start operations in early 2026.
