Port of Corral is the main point of departure for exports from Los Ríos during August
According to the INE, USD 8.3 million of the region's exports went through Puerto Corral, which corresponded to 27.9% of the region's exports, 100% of which were forestry products.

The Port of Corral was the main exit point for exports from the Los Ríos Region during August, according to a report by the National Statistics Institute (INE) .
According to the INE, USD 8.3 million of the region's exports went through Puerto Corral, which corresponded to 27.9% of the region's exports, 100% of which were forestry products.
The second port with the highest presence of exports from the Valdivian region was Coronel with 23.4%, followed by Lirquén with 22.1%, and San Vicente with 17.5%. Regional products sent abroad during the month under analysis were shipped mainly by sea, accounting for 97.8% of the regional total, while 1.5% were exported by land and 0.1% by air.
During August 2020, according to Customs, overseas shipments from the Los Ríos Region were recorded in six offices throughout the country, the main ones being Talcahuano (64.1%); Osorno (27.9%); San Antonio (6.0%) and Valparaíso (1.4%).
In the period under analysis, exports from Los Ríos reached 29.6 million, decreasing 43.8% compared to August 2019.
The decrease in the twelve-month comparison was affected by the Industry sector, which decreased 44.1% when compared to August 2019, reaching USD 28.7 million in the analyzed month. The Forestry and Livestock sector, decreased 45.5%, registering USD 0.7 million exported in August 2020.
Within the Industry sector, the activities that recorded the highest shipments were Forestry and pulp, paper and cardboard manufacturing; and Food. The former recorded a decrease of 58.6% with respect to twelve months ago, and the latter recorded an increase of 31.6%.
In the Forestry and Livestock sector, Livestock was the activity that had the largest share in shipments abroad (1.5%), and decreased by 53.3% over twelve months.
During the eighth month of the year, Asia was the main destination for regional products, accounting for 64.6% of total exports, equivalent to US$19.1 million. The countries with the highest share on the continent were China (67.9%) and Japan (14.0%).
The European continent accounted for 20.9% of exports, USD 6.2 million, with the Netherlands (77.0%) and Germany (9.4%) being the main destination countries.
During August 2020, the American continent accounted for 12.7% of total exports, equivalent to USD 3.8 million. The countries that recorded the largest number of regional shipments, in relation to other countries of the same continent, were the United States (29.2%), Mexico (20.4%) and Peru (15.9%).
